When you think about happily ever after and the couples that fit into this phrase, we would undoubtably include Jacob & Remya Varghese. We were thrilled to be a part of their nuptials this past winter on January 12, 2013. They exchanged vows in front of close friends and family at the gorgeous All Saints Church in Midtown NY. The celebrations continued at the NYC favorite Maloney & Porcelli for a understated, yet classy reception. Everyone enjoyed themselves as they celebrated the happy and infectious newlyweds!
We reached out to Remya and Jacob after the wedding to answer a few questions about life before & after the wedding — here’s what they had to share with us!
tE: Where did you meet?
RT: We met online through a dating website, which was followed by some great phone calls and, in a few weeks, an beautiful first date in Manhattan.
tE: At what point did you know you knew this would be your husband?
RT: We both have our own versions of this… but he had shown me through words and actions that he really cared about me and was invested in our relationship. The best part of being with him that really sealed it for me is that I felt super comfortable spending time with him, doing even the most mundane things. That was something that I wanted in my partner and I found it in him.
tE: What characteristic(s) in each person makes the other a better person?
(Remya about Jacob) – Jacob is a romantic with a pinch of drama thrown in. That totally warms me up and cracks me up at times. For me, the warmth and humor makes me a better person.
(Jacob about Remya) – Remya has a great sense of humor and is very straight-forward. It helps us have open and honest conversations, even on tough topics. The sense of humor adds fun to our days together.
tE: What was your favorite moment during your engagement / wedding?
JT – The beautiful photo shoot at Central Park was a great part of our wedding.
RT – I loved the time that we sat together at the reception table, to eat our first meal as husband and wife. The guests were all settled in with food and wine and we had a few quiet moments together after a lot of activity.
tE: What are your favorite things to do together as a married couple?
RT: Taking trips together is probably our favorite thing to do together. It has mostly been short and sweet ones, and we hope to have many more enjoyable ones ahead of us.
